Emilie Cortes is a career financial professional and an entrepreneur. Her two greatest passions are impact investing and sharing her love of the outdoors with others. Emilie’s 22-year career in financial services has spanned institutional and philanthropic investment management, private company business valuations, quantitative risk analytics for equity and fixed income investors and bringing Structured Credit transactions to market. Emilie also acquired and ran an all international women’s adventure travel company out of Bend, Oregon where she won Bend Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year Award, as well as ran a safari and trekking company out of Arusha, Tanzania.
Emilie received her MBA in Finance from UC, Berkeley and her BSBA in International Business from American University, summa cum laude. Emilie holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation, as well as certificates demonstrating business proficiency in French and Spanish.
Emilie currently serves as the Treasurer of the Compton Foundation shepherding their 100% impact investing objective. She has also served a member of the Mountain Rescue and Medical Team of Deschutes County Search and Rescue, Director on the Board of the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA), and as Chair of the Sierra Club Peak Climbing Section. She actively volunteers with Ascend Athletics of Afghanistan, training young women in Kabul to be future mountaineers and leaders.
