Overview
What it is
Toniic and The ImPact, two global communities of private wealth holders committed to impact investing, are running a joint Request for Proposals (RFP) for wealth managers active in impact investing.
Members of both communities report a recurring gap between what they need from their wealth managers on impact and what the market offers today. The RFP turns those needs into standardized questions. It gives managers/advisors a clear view of what this client segment expects, and it gives members a shared basis for comparing providers.
The RFP is a comparative market survey of how wealth managers serve clients who want to align their capital with impact goals. The project respects each member’s independent decision-making – it is not a procurement process or a collective mandate. Investable wealth ranges from USD 10 million to several billion, and collectively represents hundreds of billions of USD in private wealth. Members are located around the world, so this is being issued globally. Responses will be sorted by geography and wealth bracket served.
What is compared
Members of both networks advised on Toniic’s Guiding Principles for the Impact Wealth Management Relationship, which have broad (not universal) agreement across the two memberships. The RFP is organized around them and also draws on the survey behind The ImPact’s Investors Guide to Impact Wealth Management (2025). It covers impact and sustainable investing and philanthropy practices only, not other parts of the wealth management offer.
For Respondents
Who may respond?
While we are sending the RFP to selected advisor teams who have been brought to our attention by our members, response is open to any team or regional office at any organization. We encourage separate responses from different regions at the same organization if capabilities differ, supplemented by a “firmwide” response to questions answerable for all regions, if desired. The questions in the RFP are aimed at impact-capable wealth managers, not asset managers, but organizations will make their own assessment about their fit in deciding whether to respond. Everything an organization needs to respond can be found on this microsite in the section “materials for respondents.”
What we ask of respondents
- Complete a standardized questionnaire of about 70 questions across seven sections, submitted as an Excel spreadsheet to minimize compliance concerns. Most answers are dropdowns. Evidence and examples are encouraged and will be favored in member searches, but are optional (typically up to 1,500 characters each to provide flexibility, but many answers can be briefer).
- No question is mandatory. Unanswered questions will reduce how often the respondent appears in member searches.
- Submissions must be signed off by the firm’s compliance department.
What we value in answers
Some questions ask about services we are not aware of any provider offering yet. We ask them to find out whether anyone does, and to show what clients would prefer. Candid “no, we don’t” answers will be viewed more favorably than a stretched “yes” with thin evidence, and evidence of a practice counts for more than a narrative claim. Every firm has strengths and weaknesses. Firms that acknowledge theirs build trust and help clients looking for particular strengths find them.
How answers are used
Each question states whether its answer is public or available to members only
Materials for respondents
- This microsite, which may be updated over time. The current version is also available for [download as a PDF]PDF link pending
- Toniic’s Guiding Principles for the Impact Wealth Management Relationship on which the RFP is based, highlighting the needs most unmet for members in their current wealth management relationships. The document linked above contains both “headlines” and more detailed explanations for each principle. Understanding these principles will help provider respondents understand the values and mindsets of our members. We recommend reviewing the principles as the first step to gauge your alignment, understanding that some of the principles seek capabilities we know are not yet widespread.Read the PrinciplesPDF

What respondents get
- A profile in a public resource, alongside peer providers.
- Visibility with members of both networks through a members’ database.
- Selected respondents may be invited to present their most distinctive capabilities at a hybrid live/virtual showcase (Q1 2027).
- Accurate representation among global peers
Showcase Event
In addition to creating the database, we intend to host a “Showcase Event” in early 2027, featuring some of the most interesting responses we received, to highlight capabilities of which our members may not be aware. The event will be held live in North America and livestreamed to members. Presentations at that event will be by invitation only, and if invited, respondents can decide at that time whether to participate. Nothing at that event (or any other event or process) will include scoring, recommendations, or coordinated selection.

Questions?
As questions are answered that are not specific or confidential to the asking organization, we will post them this list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) so that every respondent has the same information. Please review the FAQ before submitting a question to see if it has been previously answered. Send any remaining questions to RFP@toniic.com. For fairness, we are unable to schedule private meetings to answer questions verbally, but will respond to questions via email.
