Michael Au

Board Director

Michael Au is the managing director of District Capital, the impact investment arm of a Hong Kong-based single-family office. He spearheaded the firm’s strategy to invest in early-stage companies building scalable solutions for the future of public health, sustainable food, and the climate crisis. Prior to the establishment of District Capital, the family office focused on conventional investments in public equity and real estate. The firm serves as a proof of concept to help Chinese family-owned businesses transition beyond investments in traditional capital markets and holistically incorporate ethical and sustainable goals into broader investment strategies.

Michael dedicates his work to developing the Asian impact investing ecosystem, supporting capacity building, policy development, and advocacy. He currently serves on the boards of the Sustainable Finance Initiative, Impact Data Consortium Chain, Hong Kong Council of Social Service’s Investment Fund, and other impactful ventures.

Michael received his MBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his BFA from Parsons in New York. He lives in Hong Kong with his wife and two daughters.
